As a professional living in a fast-paced world, we are forced to keep up with the latest trends. Thanks to the warp-speed of digital evolution, we now can access thousands of information with only a few clicks away. One of the hottest sources of information available today is podcasts. No matter what topic you’re interested in, chances are there’s a podcast about it.

Carrying similar characteristics to radio, such as multitasking and ease of use, podcasts bring engaging audio storytelling to specific groups based on the needs and wants of its listeners. Critically, podcasts are bringing fresh voices about specific topics combined with high levels of creativity to a medium that has changed in today’s generation.

Podcasts are entertainment and education rolled into one. It can help broaden our perspective and grow our understanding of life and the world around us. Yet it can also help us to relax, feel inspired, escape from reality, or just be a companionship. It’s like a one-stop solution that offers listeners an efficient yet intimate way to consume content. Not-forget-to-mention, podcasts make routine tasks like exercising or doing daily chores less boring and more productive.

In this article, I’m going to share my ‘go-to’ podcasts for you who want to start listening to podcasts to brush up skills and support your professional development.

In a nutshell, this podcast will offer you relevant advice for social media marketing, branding, entrepreneurship, and passion. Hosted by branding and modern-day media wiz, Gary Vaynerchuk, the podcast features a mix of #AskGaryVee episodes (Q&A show where Gary shares his in-depth answers to questions on a wide range topics), keynote speeches, fireside chats, and interviews with thought leaders. If you are new to podcasts, you can start with its recent episode, titled “How to Win on the Internet in 2021”, which is no longer than 15 minutes in length.

  1. TED Talks Daily

A great choice for you, the curious kid. Published every weekday, TED Talks Daily brings the latest talks about thought-provoking ideas on every subject imaginable - from Leadership, Artificial Intelligence to Zoology. All of its episodes are given by the world’s leading thinkers and creators. As its tagline suggests “Ideas worth sharing”, find some space in your day to see from other perspectives, ignite curiosity, and learn something new. Most of the episodes are roughly between 10-15 minutes long, making this a great option to listen to while making breakfast or taking a walk.

  1. HBR IdeaCast

HBR (Harvard Business Review) has several podcasts that feature insightful advice and recommendations from executives, professionals, and other thought leaders. However, if you are new and don’t know where to start, I would recommend you to start listening to HBR IdeaCast. In this podcast, you will find nothing but great episodes created based on solid research studies. Couple topics from the HBR IdeaCast include “Stop Micromanaging and Give People the Help They Really Need” and “Mastering the Art of Persuasion”. Make sure to check them out!
